This course is designed to teach students the fundamental brush strokes used in painting. Through a series of structured lessons and exercises, students will learn various brush techniques and how to apply them to create different textures, shapes, and effects in their artwork. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, this course will provide you with the essential brush stroke techniques needed to enhance your painting abilities.

Course Objectives:

Impasto technique for building thick layers of paint

Week 4: Exploring Line and Shape
Contour lines and outlines using various brush sizes
Creating shapes and forms with different brush strokes

Week 5: Techniques for Blending and Layering
Wet-on-wet blending technique for seamless transitions
Layering colors to create depth and dimension

Week 6: Specialized Brush Strokes
Scumbling technique for creating soft, textured effects
Stippling technique for adding detail and texture

Assessment and Evaluation:
Weekly practice exercises and painting assignments

Materials Required:
